Neeltje de Vries (1976) is a Dutch fine art photographer based in Amsterdam. Her work has been exhibited internationally across galleries, photography festivals, art fairs and auction platforms, including Phillips, PAN Amsterdam, Art Rotterdam, PhotoBasel, Haute Photographie, Enter Art Fair Copenhagen, MOYA Museum, Copenhagen Photo Festival, New South Gallery Antwerp and The Photo Gallery Sweden.

In her work, she challenges the traditional, patriarchal view of women by depicting them not as objects, but as autonomous subjects. Her images are not concerned with eroticism or aesthetics for their own sake, but with freedom and authenticity, in which nudity becomes a metaphor for liberation. The bond between women, such as that between mother and daughter, or between friends, has become an increasingly important theme, symbolising a safe, almost sacred space of shared strength and experience.

Neeltje’s work grows out of her own search for identity and freedom, carrying the trace of a childhood in which freedom was not a given. Each image stands on its own as a captured moment and carries its own story, while her preference for natural light, strong composition, and often black-and-white photography underscores the timelessness and inherent grace of women. In this way, her oeuvre develops into a personal and evolving visual language that makes female strength, connection, and freedom visible.
